Drug Rehab Programs

Drug rehab programs include residential, transitional and outpatient clinics. All are concerned with treating drug addiction and supporting the individual’s efforts to abstain from using drugs.

drug rehabResidential treatment for drug rehab involves a stay within the confines of a treatment facility. While there, the patient receives individual as well as group therapy. Individual therapy explores mental and emotional issues involved in addiction and teaches the addict coping mechanisms for successfully staying off drugs. The individual is given assignments that involve exploring the root of addiction, its effects on self and others and learning to live their life without depending on drugs. Group therapy involves interaction between small groups of individuals suffering from similar addictions. This supports the addict by showing them that they are not alone in their struggle and encourages insight into the impact of addiction, not only on users, but on family members and friends. Residential treatment can last from one month to over one year.

Transitional treatment may be indicated after release from residential treatment. This involves living in a home where treatment continues but with the ability to work, attend school and socialize. Clients are required to stay off of drugs, observe a curfew, and obey all other rules of the house. The purpose is to assist the individual in successful integration into an independent and drug-free lifestyle.

Outpatient programs involve voluntary attendance at individual and/or group therapy sessions. This ranges from interacting with a counselor on a regular basis to participation in group sessions. While treatments vary, all rehab programs are concerned with assisting individuals in their endeavor to overcome addiction.
